ART AS EXHIBITION NOS 9 &10
The enigma that was, and still is, celebrity culture. Inferred in these simple, naive lines, are such human considerations as, who am I, who is anybody, and why is anybody not somebody, exalted by no-one in particular.
The deeply moving tragedy of the icon who cannot find her own lines, unless it’s some coke on a table as absurd possibility, in an industry that takes more than it gives in terms of the real person behind the hype of celebrity.
On the surface, ironically, these pieces depict the issue of possessed sexuality laid bare before the mechanisms of illusion as entertainment.
The ambiguity of success as failure to fulfil roles is acted out through sex as commodity in both pieces.
